First, Maayan chose me for the blog. Then, Ms. Nakada went over the quote, question, and song. We talked about Fred Korematsu quote "If you have the feeling something is wrong don't be afraid to speak up." Then, we went over the question "do you follow the golden rule?" Last but not least, we went over the song of the week "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday. She showed us pictures of a memorial to lynching victims and said if we every got the chance we should go visit this lynching memorial to pay our respects. Then, we flipped to our taking a stand notes and talked about Trayvon Martin how he gets shot and killed by a white person. His family takes a stand by suing the person that killed him. Later on, we watch a video of black lives matter. Johnetta Elzie, DeRay McKesson, and Zellie Imani talk about Trayon Martin and it show us that black people don't have rights and that black people getting killed left and right. They talk about a white person shooting up a black church and nothing happening. They are showing us that the United States government and others don't give a duck. Then, we discussed the video and shared our quotes. After, that we moved the tables and went in to literature circles. The bell rang and we left.
